(09 May 2024, Muscat) H.E. Ambassador Raul S. Hernandez together with ATN Officer Mr. Ebrahim T. Zailon paid a courtesy call to the Governor of Al Buraimi H.E. Dr. Sayyid Hamad bin Ahmed Al-Busaidi, on 09 May 2024 at the Governor’s office.
The Ambassador expressed sincere gratitude to the Governor of Al Buraimi for the generous hospitality extended to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) in the region. The governorate of Al Buraimi, with a population of approximately 171,000, hosts around 100 Filipinos. Historically, Buraimi served as a business center due to its proximity to Sohar and Al-Ain, known for copper and chrome production. Compared to other areas, the cost of living in Buraimi is lower. The region is known for trading car parts, clothes, Omani coffee, and sweets, with plans to venture into semiconductor production. Al Buraimi's three wilayats produce fruits and vegetables for export, and a free economic zone is in the works. The owner of Al-Salam Grand Resort Hotel plans to build a hospital, likely hiring Filipino nurses, with the governor offering to facilitate connections. (END).
