TYPHOON “GLENDA” (RAMMASUN) as of 22 July 2014, 6:00 am (Philippine Time) Source: National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC)

The Philippine Embassy wishes to inform the public on the effects of Typhoon “Glenda” (Rammasun) that hit Regions I, III, IV-A, IV-B, VIII, and NCR. A total of 330,433 families / 1,600,298 persons were affected in the said regions. Out of the total affected, 97,055 families / 518,764 persons were displaced and served inside 1,264 evacuation centers.

A total of 97 persons were reported dead, 460 were injured, and 6 are still missing. A total of 118,281 houses (28,795 totally/89,486 partially) were damaged.

Cost of damages to infrastructure is PhP1,072,602,346.95. PhP16,178,184.83 worth of relief goods and medicines were provided to the affected families from the combined sources of Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Local Government Units (LGUs) and Non-Governmental Organizations/Other Government Organizations (NGOs/Other GOs).

There was no call for an international appeal given that the Philippine President expected that all government units have improved their preparations for damage to lives and property. There are also sufficient goods for evacuees. However, as in the past, DSWD may receive money donations via direct bank remittance, details of which are as follows:
