Philippine Embassy in Oman conducts 1st Quarter Consular Outreach to the Filipino Community in Salalah

On 08 March 2019, the Philippine Embassy in Oman conducted its First Quarter Consular Outreach to the Filipino Community in Salalah. Held at the InterCity Hotel, the Consular Outreach team processed 106 e-passport renewal applications and around 40 other consular services such as authentication, notarization and certification of documents, registration of birth, and NBI Clearance applications.

The participation of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO)-Muscat in the Consular Outreach also enabled 50 OFWs to renew their membership in the Overseas Filipino Welfare Administrative (OWWA), and to avail of services such as the processing of their their Overseas Employment Certificates (OECs), verification of contracts, and consultation on labor and welfare issues. POLO-Muscat also conducted a Post-Arrival Orientation Seminar (PAOS) to OFWs in the Dhofar region who were relatively newly arrived in Oman, a practice it implemented in 2018.

Salalah is the second largest city in Oman, with an estimated population of 375,000. The Philippine Embassy, located 1,000 km away in Muscat, endeavors to organize a Consular Outreach every quarter to service the needs of the estimated 10,000 Filipinos residing in Salalah. END
