PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN MUSCAT PREPARES FOR FIRST AUTOMATED ELECTIONS IN OMAN FOR FILIPINO OVERSEAS VOTERS
The Philippine Embassy in Muscat is moving forward with its preparations for the first Automated Elections in Oman for Overseas Voting for the 2019 Philippine National and Local Elections.
The Final Testing and Sealing (FTS) of the Vote Counting Machines (VCMs) that will be used for Automated Elections for Overseas Voting in Oman was successfully conducted on 06 April 2019 at the Philippine Embassy in Muscat. The electoral boards and technical personnel tested the VCMs for the overseas voting in Oman to ensure that it is in working order and complies with standards set for overseas voting by the Philippine Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The FTS exercise was open to the public with a number of overseas voters participating in the mock voting activity.
The overseas voting period for the 2019 Philippine National and Local Elections will be from 13 April to 13 May 2019. The voting precinct at the Embassy will be open daily for the said period, including Fridays and Saturdays, from 8 AM to 5 PM. Registered Filipino overseas voters in Oman are requested to bring their Philippine passport and/or an identification document with verifiable photo and signature when voting.
The Certified List of Overseas Voters for Oman may be viewed at the website of the Embassy (muscatpe.dfa.org.ph) and is posted at the bulletin board of the Embassy’s Consular Section. Overseas voting in Oman for the 2019 Philippine National and Local Elections will close on 13 May 2019 at 2 PM. END.
