MUSCAT 25 February 2020 – Upon arrival in the Omani capital of Muscat on 24 February 2020, Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin, Jr. visited the two Philippine Navy ships, BRP Davao del Sur and BRP Ramon Alcaraz, anchored at Port Sultan Qaboos.

The two ships arrived last month in Oman as part of the Philippines’ preparations and contingency planning for any crisis in the region.

Secretary Locsin was received by Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Vice Chief of Staff, Vice Admiral Gaudencio Collado Jr. and the 391 crew members of the two ships.

Secretary Locsin praised the AFP’s valuable contribution in being the iron glove in Philippine diplomacy, as well as in strengthening our country’s defenses.

Likewise, Secretary Locsin noted the positive image the presence of the two navy ships have made not just with their Omani hosts but also with the Filipinos in Oman. END
