21 May 2014- The Philippine Embassy in Muscat commenced on May 6 the registration/certification of qualified Filipino overseas voters for the 2016 national elections. The Embassy reported that 67 new registrants were posted on the first week of registration.

Early this year, the Embassy started its overseas voters registration campaign through its official website and Facebook page. Information dissemination was also undertaken with the help of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and Filipino community leaders. The Embassy aims to achieve the target of 5,500 new registrants through various strategies, including the conduct of mobile registration. The Embassy plans to undertake the first mobile registration from May 30 to 31 in Salalah during its bi-annual consular outreach in the said area.

The continuing overseas voters’ registration will run until 31 October 2015. The Embassy is open from Sundays to Thursdays, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. to accommodate those who wish to register.
