22 June 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Muscat conducted mobile consular services in Salalah, Oman as part of the celebration of the Anniversary of the Declaration of Philippine Independence. Salalah is the second largest city in the Sultanate and hosts a large number of overseas Filipino workers.


Third Secretary and Vice Consul Jose L. Garcia IIIheaded the visiting consular team, which also included officials from POLO-OWWA – Muscat. Consular services were conducted atHaffa House, located in the central area of the city.The consular team was able to process 58 passport renewal applications and 3 new passport applications, as well as 2 documents for authentication and 3 documents for notarization. POLO-OWWA representatives were able to issue 20 Overseas Employment Certifications (OEC) and process 30 OWWA renewal/ membership applications, as well as respond to the inquiries of 6 Filipino workers who came for consultations on work-related issues.

Vice Consul Garcia also delivered the message of Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno to the Filipino community in Salalah during their celebration of Independence Day on 21 June 2012. Ambassador Jimeno informed the community of the growing relations between the Philippines and Oman, highlighted by the upcoming opening of a resident Omani Embassy in Manila. The Ambassador also called on the Filipinos to continue excelling in their work and maintain their dedication to professionalism, as their success abroad have greatly contributed to the economic growth of the Philippines.
