MUSCAT PE’S 2022 NATIONAL WOMEN’S MONTH ACTIVITIES

MUSCAT, 8 April 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Oman launched its 2022 National Women's Month Celebration (NWMC) during the first Sunday flag-raising ceremony on 6 March 2022 led by Ambassador Imelda M. Panolong. The Embassy played the All-Women Cast Lupang Hinirang, featuring the remarkable Filipino women across history. In her remarks, Ambassador Panolong thanked and encouraged everyone to continue to promote awareness on the rights of women, and to work towards the achievement of gender equality and women's empowerment. On International Women's Day on March 08, the Embassy distributed different information materials on laws on women to female clients and they were treated to some light snacks. On 15 March 2022, the Philippine Embassy together with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Office of Workers Welfare Administration (POLO-OWWA) in Oman held an awarding ceremony for the winners of the 2022 Marilag Awards, namely, Dr. Rowena A. Zaplan (Woman Frontliner), Dr. Annie B. Domede, Ph.D.(Woman Leader), and Ms. Lady Lyn G. Barrameda (Women Entrepreneur) at the Sentro Rizal. Now on its second year, this year’s Marilag Awards has the theme “Parangal at Pagkilala sa mga Natatanging Kababaihang Migranteng Manggagawa.” As part of the NWMC, the Embassy personnel signified their support and solidarity by wearing anything purple on all the Tuesdays of March #PurpleTuesday.END
