A six-man business delegation from the Sultanate of Oman will visit Manila on 09-11 October 2012 to attend the 38th Philippine Business Conference organized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI). The delegation will be headed by H.E. Khalil Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Khonji, Chairman of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI). Chairman Al Khonji will also sign the Memorandum of Understanding between OCCI and PCCI in a ceremony during the said business conference.
Philippine Ambassador to Oman, Joselito A. Jimeno, who will attend the conference with the delegation, called on Chairman Al Khonji prior to their departure for Manila to express the Philippine government’s support and appreciation for the visit, the first in more than thirty years of diplomatic relations.
During the call, Chairman Al Khonji expressed hope that his visit would revitalize business relations between Philippines and Oman. The Philippine Embassy in Oman, through its economic diplomacy efforts, has actively facilitated in linking the two chambers, and other people-to-people exchanges.
The Embassy requested the Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) to conduct a special briefing for the Omani delegation. BOI is set to discuss and promote trade and investment opportunities in the Philippines which may be of significant interest to Oman during a meeting scheduled after the business conference.
Mindful of the Philippines’ growing medical tourism industry, Chairman Al Khonji has also expressed very strong interest in visiting a modern medical facility during his visit to Manila.
