A testament to the growing Filipino community groups in the Sultanate of Oman, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Jose L. Garcia III administered the oath-taking of another FilCom organization- the Guardian Philippines International Inc. (GPII) on 01 June 2012 at the Chancery. The officers and members of GPII are mostly engineers and workers from Duqm, which is approximately 500 kilometers from the capital city Muscat.
In his remarks, CDA Garcia enjoined the FilCom group to continue to project the best image of the Filipinos in the Sultanate of Oman. He also took the opportunity to encourage GPII’s officers and members to register as overseas absentee voters and to vote in the 2013 Philippine national elections.
Philippine Labor Attaché to Oman, Mr. Ernesto Bihis, enjoined the group to support the Embassy’s activities and that of the Filipino community during his short remarks. He also called upon the group to be united with the rest of the Filipino community in ensuring a peaceful relation not only with fellow Filipinos, but also with the local and expatriate communities. End.
