20 May 2012 marked the much awaited opening of the first Chowking store in Oman. Chowking, a Philippine fast food restaurant chain, opened its first store at Qurum City Centre in Muscat, Oman. 

The store was unveiled with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony facilitated by Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Jose L. Garcia III and Mr. Ahmed Husain Lasir, owner of Chowking Oman. After the formal opening ceremony, the store was flocked by eager Filipino patrons who waited in long queues for a taste of home. 

Mr. Bunny Malik, General Manager of Chowking Oman, informed CDA Garcia that the management is also looking at opening a second store in Muscat, and is also negotiating for the possible opening of a first Jollibee store in Oman. CDA Garcia welcomed these initiatives and expressed high hopes in bringing more Philippine franchising fast food chains in Oman. End.
