16 May 2012 – TSC Sultan Center, one of the leading supermarket chains in Muscat, Oman launched its “Filipino Week” from 16 to 22 May 2012. Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno, Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, was guest of honor and facilitated the ribbon-cutting ceremony together with Mr. Wahed Al Zuhair, Country Operations Manager of TSC Sultan Center.
After the ribbon-cutting ceremony, Ambassador Jimeno was toured through the stalls where Filipino products are on display. Filipino products include fresh fruits like banana and pineapple, canned tuna, Filipino mixes and sauces, and beauty products, among others.
Jeans Grill, TSC Sultan Center’s in-house restaurant, will also serve Filipino dishes for the duration of the Filipino week. During the dinner hosted by Sultan Center’s management, Ambassador Jimeno encouraged Mr. Al Zuhair to increase their imports from the Philippines. The Ambassador also underscored the importance of widening the patronage of Filipino products to include not only Filipino buyers, but also, Omani nationals and the expatriate communities.
The opening night was concluded by a cake cutting ceremony. TSC Sultan Center employs a total of 134 Filipino employees for its 7 branches in the Sultanate of Oman. End.
