20 April 2012 – Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno officiated the oath taking of the officers of the Samahang Pilipino sa Oman, a newly founded Filipino community organization in Oman, on 20 April 2012 at the Embassy chancery. The members of Samahang Pilipino sa Oman are mostly household service workers and in the construction sector, who maintained regular communication among one another via a social networking site, and decided to turn their online friendship into an accredited Filipino organization in Oman. The group, headed by its president, Ms. Preciosa Primero Yabut, aims to provide support mechanism for all members and assist in the projects of the Filipino community in Muscat.
In his remarks, Ambassador Jimeno congratulated the officers and members of the Samahang Pilipino sa Oman. He enjoined them to project the best image of the Filipino in the Sultanate of Oman and enlisted their support for the activities initiated by the Embassy, particularly the Overseas Absentee Voting (OAV) registration. Labor Attaché Ernesto Bihis praised the work ethics of OFWs and urged the members to gain new skills in order to improve themselves. End.
