24 March 2012 – Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno, Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, officiated the oath-taking of the newly-elected officers of the Philippine Expatriate Photographers-Oman at the Embassy chancery. Speaking before the PEP-Oman’s members, led by its president, Mr. Chong Zamora, Ambassador Jimeno enjoined the group to continue to project the best image of the Filipinos in the Sultanate of Oman in order to assist in maintaining cordial relations between the Philippines and Oman. The Ambassador also encouraged the organization’s members to use their creative talents to promote the rich culture, heritage, and natural beauty of the Philippines.
PEP-Oman has been active in volunteerism, including the “environment clean up drive” and “shoot for a cause” to benefit the victims of typhoon Sendong. The Omanis participated in the two events. Ambassador Jimeno commended such initiatives as he expressed hope that other Filipino community organizations in Oman will conduct similar activities that will enhance goodwill between expatriate Filipinos and the local community.
