08 December 2011 ---- In an effort to bring together the Filipino Community in the Sultanate of Oman, Ambassador Joselito A. Jimeno, Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman opened the doors of his official residence to FilCom leaders and hosted a dinner party in the latter’s honor. The dinner party was attended by about forty FilCom leaders and officers of the Filipino Community Social Club (FILCOSOC), the Filipino Catholic Community in Oman (FCCO) and the Philippine School (PS), along with the officers and staff of the Philippine Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office and Overseas Workers Welfare Agency (POLO/OWWA).
In his remarks, Ambassador Jimeno thanked the FilCom leaders for their efforts in promoting a good image of the Filipinos in the Sultanate thereby contributing to enhance Oman-Philippine relations. The Ambassador also called upon the community to stay united and to continue to reach out to fellow Filipinos who may need the support of the community. He also assured the community leaders/officers of the Embassy’s support for their undertakings.
Ambassador Jimeno then invited the community leaders to discuss their organization’s goals, programs, and projects. Ms. Amelita Villamora (FILCOSOC), Mr. Norman P. Gutierrez (FCCO), and Dr. Rolaiza S. Singayao (PS) were all keen in imparting their organization’s projects and upcoming activities and expressed their commitment to work in promoting and enhancing the Filipinos’ welfare in the Sultanate of Oman. Labatt Rolando Bihis discussed POLO/OWWA’s work and thrusts in Oman.
The evening ended with a stronger camaraderie among the community leaders and the Embassy officers and staff.
