Heads of the diplomatic missions of ASEAN member countries, Brunei Darussalam, Republic of Indonesia, Malaysia, Republic of the Philippines, Kingdom of Thailand, and Republic of Singapore, in the Sultanate of Oman commemorated the 47th anniversary of the founding of ASEAN by hosting an ASEAN Day Reception held at Crowne Plaza Muscat.

The ASEAN Day Reception, the second held in Muscat, was highlighted by the presence of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs Ahmed bin Yusuf Al-Harthy, who was the guest of honor for the occasion. The reception was also attended by approximately 200 guests from the diplomatic community, Omani government, private sector, and ASEAN communities.

In his welcome remarks, ASEAN Committee in Muscat (ACM) Chairman Narciso T. Castañeda, emphasized this year’s ASEAN theme “Moving Forward in Unity to a Peaceful and Prosperous Community”. He underscored ASEAN’s efforts in achieving a more economically developed and politically stable Southeast Asia, particularly through the establishment of the ASEAN Economic Community. END
