Salalah Outreach Photo 28 Nov. 2014

03 December 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Muscat reported a good turnout at a one-day consular outreach activity it conducted in Salalah on November 28. Salalah is the second major city in Oman next to the capital of Muscat with a distance of about 1,000 kms in between the two cities.  Close to two hundred overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) turned up to avail of various consular and OFW-related services.  Community leaders observed that the early announcement of the schedule made by the Embassy contributed to the good turnout.

The Embassy team was composed of officials and personnel from the Embassy and the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) offices in Muscat. Among the services rendered were passport renewal, notarials, overseas voters registration, civil registration, OWWA and Pag-IBIG membership registration, and issuance of Overseas Employment Certifications (OEC). Aside from the post-arrival orientation seminar that was conducted by the Embassy on the same day wherein various issues and concerns were discussed, Philippine Consul General Quintana also administered the oath-taking of the newly-elected officials of FilCom Salalah.

The Embassy holds two consular outreach activities in Salalah each year.  The first one for this year was held last May. END
