Philippine Ambassador to Oman Narciso T. Castañeda joined the Philippine School in Oman (PSO) as it celebrated its 25th Anniversary of Foundation from December 17 to 18, 2014 with the theme “Sustaining a Shared Journey with One Vision.”

Various activities were undertaken in the school premises during its two-day celebration, which includes a thanksgiving ceremony on the first day, and a jubilee program on the final day.

The jubilee program showcased the cultural performances of the school’s students and faculty staff. In his remarks, Ambassador Castañeda praised the faculty members for their selfless dedication, competence and drive for excellence, and further commended them for imparting good values to their students. He also extended his appreciation for the efforts of the Board of Trustees, administrators, parents, and students for the continued growth and success of the PSO.

PSO Board of Trustees Chairman Dr. Rolaiza Roniella S. Singayao also shared during this milestone event the two great news – the allocation of 2,000-square meter land by the Oman Ministry of Housing for the relocation building of the PSO and the launching of the official website of the PSO (http://philippineschooloman.com/).

The PSO was conceived in 1989 by the Filipino Overseas Workers through the auspices and support of the Philippine Honorary Consul General Essa bin Mohammed Al Zedjali, in cooperation with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The first site was at Al Wattayah where it was inaugurated on February 02, 1990. It was then called Philippine Community School (PCS).

PSO evolved from a simple academic institution into a highly-structured organization having more than 700 students, 31 highly qualified and committed teaching staff, and nine hardworking personnel. END
