30 March 2015 – Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Oman showed strong interest to engage in various agribusiness opportunities in the Philippines after they took part in the agriculture investment forum jointly conducted by the Philippine Embassy in Muscat and the Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA). The seminar, held on March 27 at the Embassy’s Sentro Rizal, was aired via live streaming/video conference, making it possible for Filipino communities from distant areas of Duqm and Salalah to actively participate in the forum.
The seminar gathered more than 70 attendees from the Muscat and Sohar areas and more than 30 participants from the far areas of Duqm and Salalah via online access.
Resource speaker Agriculture Attaché Gil Herico briefed the attendees on the agribusiness opportunities in the Philippines that they may explore. He also informed them of the possible support and assistance that the DA could extend to OFWs who wish to start their own agribusiness in the Philippines.
The forum attendees expressed their appreciation for the agribusiness seminar conducted and requested for such activities to be regularly conducted by the Embassy. END
