Philippine Ambassador Meets with Institute of Electronic Engineers Philippines (IECEP) delegation

16 August 2018 --- Philippine Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman, H.E. Narciso T. Castañeda, met today with the representative delegation of the GCC Chapters of the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP) who will be holding their 5th GCC Convention in Oman on 17-18 August 2018. Accompanying the IECEP delegation was Dr. Alnar Detalla, Chairperson of the Professional Regulatory Board of Electronics Engineering, and Engr. Romulo Agatep, Country Registrar of the Philippine Technological Council.
The 5th IECEP GCC convention, with the theme Electronic Professionals: Advancing Global Capacity and Excellence in International Diverse Industries, is expected to bring together close to a hundred officers and members of the eight chapters that comprise the IECEP-GCC. The two-day convention will gather the practicing Filipino electronics engineers in the GCC to attend technical sessions to pursue professional development, establish camaraderie and promote the virtue of social responsibility in line with the IECEP’s vision as an organization.
During their call on the Philippine Ambassador to Oman, the IECEP officials conveyed their commitment to support the programs of the Embassy, particularly those that address the welfare of fellow OFWs. They expressed their willingness to strengthen the partnership with the Embassy and to take an active role in future Filipino community activities.
H.E. Ambassador Castañeda welcomed the holding of the IECEP convention in Oman and highlighted the efforts of the Philippine government to promote programs in support of the professional development of OFWs. He noted the significant role that Filipino professionals, such as electronics engineers, have played in the transformation of the countries in the GCC to developing economic powerhouses, and their invaluable contribution to the growth of the Philippine economy as well. He called on the electronics engineers to continue to showcase their technical proficiency in their own fields and the good traits as hardworking and dedicated OFWs. END.
